We have
designed networks using Ethernet from 10 Mbits/s to 1
Gbits/s. We have used RS-422 up to 3Mbits/s and RS-232-C up
to 400Kbits/s.
Protocols can
be TCP/IP (yes even with RS-232-C) or, perhaps better for
embedded use, is a custom packet format which is less easy
for Windows users to intercept and corrupt.
We have
successfully put in the field Ethernet networks for Casinos
which use up to 500 "Slot Machines" per net. With TCP/IP
this network would be intolerably slow since each of the 500
machines requires server attention on demand with a latency
of no more than a half second. A custom packet protocol was
designed which had those features.
We offer
encryption using whichever method the customer prefers. Our
preference is Blowfish since it has not yet been cracked
unlike the much used DES which has. |
